Artist Review : Jamie Foxx- Unpredictable

Jamie Foxx is a jack of all trades in the entertainment biz. You have to admit it. He’s done everything from Comedy, Action, and Drama on the Bigscreen, had his own television show, and is now producing top selling records. Not bad at all if you ask me. His album Unpredictable was anything but that however. Im not saying his album wasn’t good. But it was very predictable. The guy does have great pipes and R&B and Soul is what he does best, so I expected alot of ballads and very few upbeat joints. When I first added the tracks to my rotation, most of his songs didn’t really appeal to me. It basically had to grow on me. Im a huge fan of Hip Hop so the 4th track with the Game and Snoop was played out in my ride within a week. haha. It took time for the rest of the CD to get any kind of rotation. However, with time the CD did grow on me and I’ve learned to appreciate his entire album. Actually his voice is pretty damn amazing. Track Four however is my favorite. Im a huge fan of Game and Snoop and I think he did an amazing thing by getting two artists who have totally opposite affiliations to collab on a sick track. Props to Jamie. As for the album itself, I’d suggest you grab a copy. Its gets a four out of five from me.

  1. It is hard to dislike him, he is very talented and I recently found out a clasically trained pianist. His voice is not bad at all, and he is a pretty good actor. At times he might seem a little too arrogant, but I guess I don’t know him personally so…

  2. Is he as good as David Soul or David Hasselhoff were? ;)

On a serious note though - was Foxx the comic that played the big lipped whacked out female massage therapist on “In Living Color” ?

  4. Yep, have had that album downloaded for a little while. My fave is “extravaganza”. I think the piano is beautiful. It’s in minor, very nice touch.

  8. The show which aired lat night January 25, 2006 was definitely “Off th Hook”. Lots of great talent & wonderful performances by the man himself “Jamie Foxx”. After watching him do the story of Ray Charles & a few other movies I’m gaing more respect for Jamie.
