Trench has Mange

My poor pup has mange. He just turned four months the other day and I noticed a few “Bald” Spots on his coat. It worsened over the week so I decided to take him in to the vet. I found out it was Demodex Mange or “Red Mange”. This mange can be life-threatening so Im glad I took him in when I did. The problem is, he has to go through a series of insecticide dippings. I hate doing this to him. He gets very lethargic and tired after them. I’ve been really worried about him.

When I left the vet I was $130.00 in debt and felt like a worrisome father. Trench is my baby. I hope he recovers quickly. I still have to administer five more dip treatments. Its really tough seeing my boy looking and feeling the way he does.

Demodectic Mange: Often called Demodex, is a skin disease caused by parasitic mites called Demodectic Mites. These mites live on your Dog’s body at the base of the fur follicles 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. You won’t be reminded of, or even aware of these mites being on your Dogs body, until you see some symptoms that let you know they’re there, and doing damage.

  1. Try changing up his dogfood. Also give him vitamins to boost his immune system. All dogs have the demo mites. The main reason why it attacks the dogs over and over is because its immune system cant fight off the mites that the dog carries. Trench eventually beat the mites, his immune system strengthened, and I give him flinestones vitamins along with interceptor monthly. He’s healthy as an OX. Check out the photos below!

  2. My dog has demodectic mange, also. I adopted him with a severe case. We treated him orally with ivermectin. 5 months later, it came back. we took him every other week for a mitoban dip and ivermectin shot $120.00 each time. Now, two months later, it has come back. I just don’t know what to do!! I’m so worried!! What else have you tried? I’m trying to find new solutions!
