Guily of Sex with Student…

Being a elementary teacher I’m always kept in the loop about things happening in our profession. Debra Lafave was obviously one teacher who stepped on the wrong side of the boundaries. Teaching is a full time job that requires you to be very careful about what you say and what you do. You are a role-model not only to your students but to your entire community as well.

As for Debra, she plead guilty to two counts of lewd behavior with a 14 year old minor and was sentenced to three years of community control, or house arrest, and ordered to register as a sex offender. I dont condone rape, regardless if it is a male or female, but what was interesting was the way I felt about the whole thing. Do you just put the sole blame on her because she is the adult? How did the 14 year old really feel about his encounters with her?

Being a male, I know that we go through intense changes in our body around 12-14 years of age. Our sexual curiosity increases and our testosterone starts to skyrocket. Im not going to be prude about it because I can admit that I had my share of fantasies of sleeping with the hot teacher or secretary as a young teenager. Think about it. This kid had sex with his 23 year old teacher at least four times. When his friends wouldn’t believe him, he had his cousin drive him around while he had sex in the backseat of a car. At that age, that just boosted your popularity and manhood 100 times fold. The kid probrably enjoyed it. Just being real.

On a sidenote, I bet if it were a male teacher, he would be facing some serious jailtime. How many of you would agree with me on that?

I fully agree with you. I am going to be a teacher in the next two years and I already noticed that one has to be aware of his responsibilities 24 hours a day. In Germany teachers who commit some sort of sexual crime will never teach at any public school again.

All I know is that when I was 14, I would have been hitting that without question if the chance popped up.

I agree with you that there is a double standard. And while it is unfortunate…. generally men are still, as a majority, stronger than women and I guess that’s why it’s been hard to change that double standard. You know?

Yeah, a male would get a more serious punishment; no doubt about it. Thing is though, is that in addition to situations like this, women also get away with murder a lot. It is unfortunate. They claim they are insane. It says a lot about the criminal justice system.

Of course there is a double standard but remember mary Kay and her 12 year old “man”. Well she got about 8 years but now they have 2 kids and are married. What a wacko.

I have worked with kids all my life. I don’t think one of my 12 year olds or 14 year olds could have make a serious decision like this and forteold the consequences. Plus if young kids want to try “it” they have their peers, they do not need a pedophile to help then with their curiosity. Can you tell this pisses me off?

she isn’t like the hottest girl ever, but doesn’t she look like she’s got enough looks to get a quality guy that is of age? i dunno…

Wow… yeah…
Unfortunately that’s how society is.
I mean, I get what you are saying… about the kid.
But still… that teacher HAD to know what she was doing was wrong.
No matter how much she or the kid were enjoying it.
She was the adult there.

She deserves to be put in prison too!
