New Spring (Wheel of Time)

NewSpringTitle: New Spring The Novel (Wheel of Time)
Author: Robert Jordan
Publisher: TOR Fantasy (June 13th, 2005)
Hardcover: 400 pages
ISBN: 0765345455

I purchased “New Spring” because it provided a background to one of my favorite characters of the series, Lan Mandragoran, the uncrowned King of the Malkier. It also provided alot of background information on Moiraine Damodred and Siuane Sanche who in this book are still working to achieve their status as Aes Sedai. The book begins with the end of the Aiel War, and the fortelling of the Dragon Reborn. It ends with Lan and Moraine developing their relationship as Aes Sedai and Warder.

Robert Jordan has won back my interest in the series. As a die hard fan of WOT, I was one of the many who were upset that the story was not completed sooner. I basically put down book 9 in the middle of a chapter and never looked back. However, the real Robert Jordan has reappeared. New Spring has provided me with many details that have always eluded me in his previous works, and it had flashes of brillance from his previous releases. I will definately purchase the next installment of the trilogy of prequels he has in store for us.

For those of you who have not read this series yet, I really suggest that you start with the Eye of the World. The first book of the Wheel of Time series. His first couple books are his best by far and really sets this series apart from other fantasy series.

  1. I’ll have to tell my husband about your review. Like you, he kinda gave up on Jordan. He didn’t even want anything to do with this book. But seeing your review that Jordan is “back”, he might give it a chance.

  3. Rose, the Knife of Dreams is book 11 of the Wheel of Time. I stopped reading at book 9. Haven’t read book 10 so obviously have not picked up book 11. I wont pick up those books until I finish the prequels.

  4. I just realized I’m on your respected blogs, guess I should start skinning and posting :P I really do think that a good look makes you want to post. If it isn’t out of the ordinary, then it kinda repells you from posting.
