Band of Brothers (Box Set)

I finally watched The Band of Brothers. I couldn’t stand watching bits and pieces on the History Channel so I took my father-n-laws box set (5 discs) and made it my mission to complete it today. I started from 10:30am and watched until around 9:00pm taking just a few minutes off in between for the restroom and snacks. Not a minute was wasted with this series.

Tom Hanks and Steven Speilberg teamed up in what I would call the best mini-series ever put on television.

The story takes place during World War II,and puts its focus on the Easy Company. The Easy Company is an elite U.S. Army Airborne group who’s adventures start in Normandy,France and carry them all the way to the heart of Germany.

The settings of the movie are extremly authentic, and the series is long enough that viewers are able to take an in depth look into the lives and emotions of the characters. What I found to be amazing was the emotional rollercoaster this movie takes you on. You will actually feel every loss taken, and every battle won.

The box set has a pretty heavy pricetag, but Im definately going to add a copy to my collection shortly. Its a must have for any serious DVD enthusist.

  1. I’ve been meaning to watch this mini-series for the longest time but never got around to it. I think I’m going to put on my Netflix queue right now before I forget again.

  2. Expect to spend an entire day watching this series, unless you are the type that can break it into parts. I just couldn’t. I had to finish it.

  3. this definitely belongs to my wishlist! i’ve never watched Band of Brothers completely and i always miss the ones they show on local tv. :P

  4. How much? I’m A Dr. Steven Ambrose student (Univ. of N.O.). Great series, great teacher. RIP, Doc.
