Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Theater)

charlie_and_the_chocolate_factoryTim Burton probrably produces the most bizzare movies in the history of motion picture film. I’ve enjoyed some features such as Edward ScissorHands, BeetleJuice, and a Nightmare Before Christmas. His two versions of Batman were also pretty good as well. Then there were those films where…. ummm… Not so great. They just didn’t sit with me well. Probrably Mars Attacks and PeeWee’s Big Adventure were the ultimate in stupid. I’ll never show my kids (if I have any) those movies. What a waste of time.

The movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is another one of those hate it or love it films. I actually enjoyed it. Willy Wonka who is played by Johnny Depp kinda reminded me of Michael Jackson in his Neverland estate. That was probrably the only thing that really disturbed me in the movie itself.

The movie focuses on Charlie, a poor boy who dreams of visiting Willy Wonkas wonderful and mysterious chocolate factory. Roald Dahl, the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory didnt like the original release of the film in 1971, but his widow Felicity gave Burtons movie her blessing and claimed that Dahl would have loved Burton’s theatrical version of the book.

Movie to keep an eye on: Tim Burton’s-Corpse Bride (Kinda reminds me of Nightmare before Christmas)

  1. Oh wow! I can’t wait to see this movie… I loved the old version of the movie and the book! It’s just such a fun story in general. Only a 3/5 though huh? Dang!?!
