Revenge of the Sith (Theater)

star_wars_episode_three_ver7The 2nd Trilogy is complete. Star Wars Revenge of the Sith was released last night at 12:01 to a huge crowd at the Guam Micronesian Mall Theaters. LightSabers, a miget Darth Vader, and a couple storm troopers walked through the halls eagerly waiting the Star Wars release. The first public release on US Soil.

I gave this movie a 4 out of 5 for the simple reason that I am a Star Wars geek. I had very high expectations for Episode III, and unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed. The movie had its moments, but I feel did not live up to the expectations of many of its die hard fans. The movie itself had a ton of special effects and Lucas really put his imagination to work, but there was just something missing. I think alot of it was the dialogue, which seemed cheesy at times and very weak. There was just not enough color in way the actors attempted to portray their roles.

I thought that I would change my favorite film to the Revenge of the Sith solely on what I watched in the previews. I was wrong. I still feel that the Empire Strikes Back was the best of the six films released so far. But dont let this review stop you from seeing this film. It is a must see for any Star Wars fan. I will definately be picking up a copy to complete my Star Wars DVD collection. May the Force be with You.

Synopsis:

It is 3 years after the Battle of Geonosis… Politican Chancellor Palpatine has been kidnapped by General Grevious, the evil commander of the Droid Army and renegade Jedi Count Dooku. Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice Anakin Skywalker comes to the rescue and Anakin kills Count Dooku and frees Chancellor Palpatine, but General Grevious escapes. On Coruscant, Anakin learns his secret wife, Padme Amidala is pregnant and Anakin begins having horrible nightmares of Padme dying giving birth. The Jedi council assigns Anakin to spy on Chancellor Palpatine, as Anakin is forming a close friendship with the politician. As Obi-Wan and a platoon of clone troopers are sent to the planet Utapau to destroy General Grevious and put a end to the war. Anakin learns Chancellor Palpatine is the mysterious Sith Lord Darth Sidious and is the mastermind behind the war, and he converts Anakin to the Dark Side and Anakin becomes the evil Sith Lord known as Darth Vader, believing the powers of the Dark Side will save Padme from death. With Anakin turned to the Dark Side, could this mean the fall of the Republic and the end of the Jedi Order?

  1. I can see what you mean, I saw it at 6.45pm which was a special premiere on the Gold Coast and it was epic but missed a few things. After giving it some thought I have put it down to expectations. If there was another Star Wars to be released we wouldn’t put as emphasis on this movie. What impressed me was the integration from 3 to 4, George Lucas has succeeded. My rating 4 / 5 as well.

  2. awh I’m sorry to hear that it was disappointing but I guess the guy’s been doing it for so long now something had to give right? Still 4/5 is a pretty high rating! Can’t wait to see it!

  3. I took the kids to see it last night… I thought it was great. I’m not a huge fan, I only went because the boys wanted to (I thought I would end up sleeping through the whole thing). I just might go back and watch the ones I’ve missed!

  4. I’ve been a fan for 28 years and this one has moved up to third on my list. ESB, SW, ROTS, ROTJ, PM, AOTC. Yup. That’s my order. I was lucky enough to get a call at 9pm for the 12:01 showing. I’ve got some really great friends, eh?

  6. The movie wasnt a total disappointment. It just wasn’t everything I thought it would be. You should see it in theaters. its always better to watch movies like these in the theater to get the full effect. Unless of course, you have a theater at home!
